Our Branch

The Compliance and Regulatory Services team contributes to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and regulatory services related to environmental health; land use and built environment; animal management; natural environment; parking regulation; asset use; and contract management. We do this by providing best practice regulatory services that contribute positively to the quality and lifestyle of the city.

The Role

The Environmental Health Team Leader will deliver strategic and tactical guidance to their experienced team of Environmental Health professionals, supporting up to 20 direct and indirect staff who manage a portfolio of work. You will leverage your highly developed knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation, local laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines to effectively operate Environmental Health function and operations.

Utilising your high levels of demonstrated experience in Environmental Health you will

  • manage and coordinate your team and operations to achieve high-quality compliance outcomes
  • undertake research and analysis of environmental health trends, issues and responses
  • provide ongoing review of systems, practices and processes within the team to identify opportunities for business improvement.

As Team Leader you will lead the direction, professional development and encourage new ideas and problem solving of your team and drive your team’s success across diverse priorities and challenges. In this role you will engage various stakeholders in Environmental Health licensing and compliance functions. The Team Leader is entrusted to ensure pro-active leadership and education; encourage collaboration and partnerships between people, communities, businesses, and governments.

To be successful you will have:

  • demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture and the ability to undertake thorough business analysis and implement effective business improvement strategies
  • excellent operational understanding of regulatory framework and in particular legislation, local laws and guidelines pertaining to local government licensing and regulatory compliance in Queensland or ability to acquire such understanding
  • demonstrated experience in complex research, analysis and problem solving along with exercising discretion when dealing with a wide range of competing priorities.
  • demonstrated experience in managing the effective delivery of operational Environmental Health functions and to lead performance through setting clear direction and expectations

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Environmental Health from an accredited course (please see the link) https://www.eh.org.au/workforce/accredited-courses

The successful candidate will hold a valid C-Class drivers license.
