Salary Range: Band 7 AUD $123,340 to $134,848 + superannuation. (Remuneration stated is for a full-time position)

Work Type: Temporary Full-Time, up to 12 months (with possible extension thereafter)

Location: Wacol, QLD

Our Business

Fleet Solutions branch provides full lifecycle management of the fleet assets deployed across Council to support the delivery of services to the City of Brisbane, ranging from cars and trucks to excavators and boats. Our team is based at Wacol, in Brisbane's southwest.

The Role

Reporting to the Fleet Optimisation Manager, the primary purpose of the Principal Fleet Design Specialist role is to lead the development of Council’s fleet catalogue and responsible for the management, development, and upgrades of approved engineering designs for fit-for-purpose vehicles and mobile plant. This role will provide advice on engineering drafting in consultation with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate governance is in place that supports the development, evaluation, and certification of safe and effective designs prior to the introduction into business operations.

With a keen eye for innovation and contemporary trends you will be responsible for negotiating with multiple stakeholders to develop solutions. Your ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines and projects is only matched by your high level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills which will equip you to successfully manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

From a technical perspective, you will have gained significant experience working in large fleet services within industries such as Emergency Services, Utilities, Mining or heavy vehicle/machinery manufacturing.

A proven team player you will enjoy working with like-minded knowledgeable and passionate team members. You bring vision and the agility to operate in a fast-paced environment where you will be encouraged to challenge the status quo and think outside the box to ensure the provision of safe, fit for purpose fleet, plant and equipment.

A driver’s licence, an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge and certificate in CAD drafting or similar is required for this position.
