Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance, and transport operations activities.

Our Branch

Construction is a diverse branch that provides a wide range of services.

We play a critical role in ensuring Council’s assets are fit for purpose and provide opportunities for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy Brisbane.

The branch has staff located across the city with functional lines that coordinate maintenance and upgrades to a range of Council’s assets.

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for one permanent full-time Electrician to join our Construction team based at the ROC – Regional Operations Centre in Eagle Farm. The role will support management in the maintenance of electrical assets as part of a team of technical and professional staff.

We are looking for an electrician experienced with installation, fault finding and testing works in the following areas: Rate 3 street lighting, park lighting, facility lighting, switchboard installations / modifications and general electrical maintenance. There are opportunities to pick up additional skills in other areas of BCC electrical project work, such as CCTV, ITS and Traffic Signals.

 To be successful you will have:

  • QLD open electrical licence (Electrical mechanic)
  • drivers Licence, MR desirable
  • ability to work in a small team, and independently as required
  • demonstrated skills in electrical equipment installation, fault diagnosis and repairs
  • knowledge of QLD mandatory electrical testing processes
  • ability to work from ladders and at heights via scissor lift and/or EWP
  • ability to understand and follow instructions, and work through general electrical drawings / designs
  • knowledge of, and the ability to apply, the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring rules
  • knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Electrical Safety Act.
