Brisbane City Council’s Organisational Services supports, equips and helps guide Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach. 

Our Branch  

Support Services provides Council's key support services under a centralised model. ​The efficient back-of-house support ensures more resources can be focused on Council’s front-line service delivery.​​ 

Payment and Supply Services is a part of Support Services and provides procurement services, storage and movement of inventory, payment of suppliers and payroll services to all areas of Council. 

The Role  

Payment and Supply Services is seeking a Payroll Officer to work across two teams. The role works primarily in SAP to perform daily payroll tasks, such as entering payroll data and information to ensure that employees are paid correctly and on time.  

One team focuses on manual timesheet entry, processing leave applications for Bus Operators and other payroll data. The other team processes internal movements and performs other various payroll administration tasks. Occasionally the role will perform payroll new hire and re-hire functions. Both teams respond to payroll enquiries from across the business. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • experience conducting payroll processes within a large and complex organisation 
  • knowledge of human resource management systems in relation to payroll functions 
  • experience in preparing and processing high volume transactions with a focus on accuracy, preferably in SAP 
  • good communication, interpersonal and customer and stakeholder relationship skills 
  • ability to provide advice and problem solve on a wide range of payroll issues 
  • good organisational, time management and prioritisation skills. 

While not mandatory, your experience in operating a SAP payroll system will be highly regarded for this role.
