Brisbane City Council’s Transport for Brisbane division brings together Commercial and Contract Services, Engineering and Asset Management, Strategy and Network Services, Transport Operations and Future Transport Readiness. Together, these branches help keep our city moving.

Our Team

Within Engineering and Asset Management Branch, Council’s Garages and Bus Workshops provide a roadworthy, serviceable and clean bus fleet to the depots and to the satisfaction of Transport for Brisbane’s passengers and operators.

The Role

As Coach and Body Builder, you will apply your auto manufacturing knowledge and skills to undertake repairs of buses, vehicles and other manufacturing services and products.  This includes a wide variety of work including fabrication, structural repairs, sheet metal work, painting.

Your responsibilities include ensuring legislative and safety standards are met or exceeded, completing jobs within prescribed timeframes and quote costs, trade and job-related administration including requisitions for parts and materials.

To be considered for this role, it is a mandatory requirement that you hold a Trade Certificate Level III in Automotive Manufacturing Technical Operations – Bus, Truck and Trailer (AUM30218) or equivalent together with a current “C” Class driver’s licence.

To be successful in this role, you’ll also demonstrate:

  • the ability to contribute successfully in a team environment
  • the ability to plan, organise and perform work in a timely and cost effective manner
  • experience working autonomously and to provide guidance to apprentices
  • sound communication and customer services skills
  • sound working knowledge of ordering and supply processes.
