About the role 

Due to a consistent rate of growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer/Officer to join a supportive and knowledgeable Victorian commissioning team. This is a hands-on role requiring broad technical knowledge and experience working on substation projects that play a key part in Australia’s transition to net Zero.

You will be responsible for the planning, pre-commissioning and commissioning of power system primary plant and secondary systems

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and leading brownfield and greenfield 22kV-500kV Substation project testing and commissioning activities.
  • Planning and executing outage activities.
  • Tracking and reporting progress according to the project commissioning schedule.
  • Protection and control relay testing.
  • Switchgear, CT & VT testing.
  • IEC61850 system testing.
  • Drawing, ITP and defect/RFI management.
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior team members
  • Provide diagnostic testing and maintenance services on a wide variety of electrical protection and control relays & equipment 

About You 

To successful you will have previous experience in a similarly complex role working on complex brownfield and greenfield projects including;

  • Qualifications in an Advanced Diploma of ESI Power Systems or Electrical Engineering Degree;
  • Australian transmission/distribution network experience
  • Significant VESI/Electricity Supply Industry(ESI) experience in commissioning;
  • Ideally relevant training in line with VESI;
  • Capable of identifying the critical resources necessary and act with decisiveness to ensure works are performed safely and meet required time and cost objectives;
  • Be proficient in the operation of Doble secondary injection test equipment and other primary plant test equipment;
  • Experience with IEC61850 projects is desirable;
  • Be comfortable with travel and working outside of Melbourne;
