Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a qualified Work Health & Injury Prevention Advisor with recent experience in the development and implementation of psychosocial strategies. Using your expertise in mental health to enhance workplace wellbeing and promote safety, you will be passionate about developing innovative and outcome-focused employee health, wellbeing, recovery and remaining at work initiatives. You will be a clear communicator able to convey initiatives and recommendations using effective and accessible messaging. A pro-active view of problem solving is essential, along with an empathetic and non-judgemental approach to supporting employees. You should be skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with employees and managers at all levels of the organisation, with experience working with a range of diverse stakeholders. 

What can you expect to be doing?

As Work Health & Injury Prevention Advisor, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Safety, Quality, Risk and Assurance (SQRA) team with the assessment, development and implementation of psychosocial initiatives including development of assessment tools and resources and delivering training to employees and managers.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on employee wellbeing, injury prevention initiatives and psychological hazards.
  • Implementing continuous improvement of injury prevention resource information, safety training modules and providing recommendations on risks. 
  • Supporting the delivery of workplace injury management and coordinating early intervention services including Recovery, Return to Work, and Wellbeing Plans.
  • Proactively contributing to Self-insurance, injury management & WHS performance standards and the SQRA Operational Business Plan.

What do you need to bring?

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Allied Health such as bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field with a strong emphasis on psychological health. A relevant qualification in Rehabilitation Counselling will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in identifying and addressing psychological factors impacting work performance and safety.
  • Ability to identify and address risks associated with incidents and employees, including analysing health and safety data and trends, and developing appropriate strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Demonstrable understanding of employee wellbeing and injury prevention best practice, including knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Effective and empathetic negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build trust and cooperation with managers, workers and external stakeholders. 
  • Experience in Self-insurance is desirable.
