Who are we looking for?
Are you an experienced health and safety professional looking to make a change in 2025?
Join our established team at one of South Australia’s leading not for profit organisations and partner with different areas of the business to provide advice, drive safety management initiatives and support a positive health and safety culture.
You will have a tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety with a solid background in WHS within a self-insured environment.
You excel at identifying risks from incidents and employee data, analysing trends, and implementing effective strategies to mitigate these risks.
You can accurately interpret and apply legislation and policy, ensuring compliance and consistency and can develop clear and concise investigative and audit reports, and proposals.
You work well with HR and WHS functions to resolve workplace issues, and possess excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills that foster trust and cooperation.
What can you expect to be doing?
You will assist in educating the workforce in the effective use of safety systems, as well as creating a culture of proactive safety where employees take responsibility for their safety and are risk aware.
- Collaboratively develop and review the WHS Management System to meet legislative requirements.
- Contribute to injury prevention strategies, deliver safety training, and support early intervention processes.
- Deliver training programs on health and safety processes, including hazard management and incident investigation.
- Liaise with external bodies on self-insurance and accreditation, conduct internal audits, and support compliance.
- Lead risk assessments, incident investigations and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with management and teams to support safety, risk, and compliance initiatives.
- Support initiatives and strengthening of psychosocial risk assessment and management.
What do you need to bring?
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety.
- Proven experience in WHS within a self-insured environment, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy accurately and consistently.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with experience working collaboratively with HR and WHS functions.
- Desirable: prior experience with RiskMan safety information system.
