Our Branch

This role forms a part of the Contracts team in City Standards, Construction branch. The team supports Construction branch in delivering projects via contracted arrangements, providing all aspects of contract document preparation, tender evaluation, contract administration and contract close out to ensure high quality, value for money solutions in accordance with Council’s procurement framework. 

The Role 

Reporting to the Principal Contracts Manager, your role is to lead and manage the Contracts Officers in the Contracts team to ensure a high standard of documentation and rigour in processes relating to procurement activities. 

The key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • leading and managing the contract officer team, providing leadership, onboarding, supervision, coaching, peer review, and advice to ensure effective customer service, efficient delivery, and consistent achievement of performance expectations
  • allocating contracts to contract officers in a fair manner and monitoring their performance
  • providing administrative support for tendering, evaluation, contract administration, and managing contractor performance
  • collaborating with other members of the Construction Branch to assist in procurement and contract system administration
  • contributing to the enhancement of contract management and administration by developing best practices for consistent contractor performance, reporting, systems, and procedures
  • Working efficiently within a multi-functional team environment, responding to customer requirements to achieve operational outcomes. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • proven experience in leading a team
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience in drafting contract and procurement documents in compliance with Council policies and guidelines
  • thorough understanding of managing the tendering, evaluation, and award processes for construction contracts
  • effective communication and collaboration skills to work well within a multi-functional team, while meeting customer requirements and achieving operational outcomes
  • strong organizational skills, both at the project, team, and individual level, to ensure the achievement of agreed service standards and timelines in a dynamic environment. A proactive and positive approach is also required.
