Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) brings together Council's asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, services, maintenance and transport operations activities.

The Construction Branch continues to deliver consistent, high quality, value for money, whole of life infrastructure. Our comprehensive knowledge of project services and assets enables us to communicate and negotiate for the best long-term options to meet the needs of the rate payers and residents of Brisbane. The Construction Branch delivers an extensive range of high-quality specialist services in the areas of infrastructure, stormwater drainage, bridge maintenance, transport network technologies, trades and land remediation.
The City Lighting team are responsible for the maintenance of 15,000 Council public safety lights in roads, parks, bikeways and public spaces throughout Brisbane. City Lighting is also the custodian of 121,000 Energex streetlights.
The team organises lighting fault repairs, additional lighting investigations, and responses to spill light concerns. The team has proactive inspection programs for public lighting that include periodic visual inspections of lights and condition assessments for lighting poles.
The Role
We are seeking a Customer Service Officer in the City Lighting team to coordinate and schedule public lighting design submissions and seamless operational support. This role involves dealing with external consultants and developers, generating invoices for lighting design submissions, providing general administrative assistance, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and creating SAP notifications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, ensuring professional and effective communication in handling requests, complaints, and inquiries. Managing and coordinating public lighting design submissions.
Additionally, the officer will manage approved “As-Constructed” Works Plans, ensuring they are correctly recorded in Records Manager and that the correct information is provided to external developers/consultants.
Administrative responsibilities include generating service invoices for consultants, following up on overdue payments, and maintaining efficient filing and document management systems to ensure accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
This role is critical in ensuring the efficient operation of public lighting services and supporting the Council’s broader infrastructure goals.
To be successful you will have:
- knowledge of and experience in working in public lighting
- knowledge of SAP unique public lighting functions
- knowledge of the lighting assets mapped in the ArcGIS mapping software
- ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence
- well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to deal effectively with difficult customers and resolve problems
- experience in providing high-quality administrative support to a team
- demonstrated organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage competing priorities in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver quality service standards
- competency in SAP, MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
