Salary Range: 

Band 4 AUD $82,995 - $89,095 per annum + 14% superannuation

Band 5 AUD $91,900 – $104,172 per annum + 14% superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for full-time positions)

Roles Available: Multiple permanent full-time positions available

Location: Based out of Green Square, Fortitude Valley. Field work locations vary.

Start Date: Start Dates in December 2024, January 2025 or February 2025


The Role:

This is your opportunity to be a part of a positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated professional team. As an Environmental Health Officer within Council, you will utilise your well-developed knowledge of public and environmental health to achieve outcomes for our city and residents. Acting on behalf of Council, you will perform your role as an Authorised Officer, exercising delegated powers to apply legislation and local laws.

A typical day at Council as an Environmental Health Officer may include food audits, personal appearance audits, events and festivals music monitoring, public health investigations including hoarding and squalor complaints, environmental noise and nuisance investigations, asbestos investigations and water contamination investigations . 

Graduate, early career and experienced Environmental Health Officers are all encouraged to apply.

About You:

We are seeking self-motivated and passionate team players, who have the courage and initiative to make a positive difference to the city of Brisbane and its residents. To be successful, you will have:

  • a tertiary qualification in Environmental Health from an accredited course (please see the link) https://www.eh.org.au/workforce/accredited-courses
  • open ‘C’ class driver’s licence
  • time management and organisational skills
  • communication skills
  • research and problem-solving skills
  • understanding of and ability to apply environmental health principles and legislation.

Candidates applying for the Band 4 role should note that this is a developmental position (broad banded position across Bands 4-5). An employee appointed to a broad banded position who has reached the top incremental pay point in Band 4 and has achieved their goals as outlined in their performance leadership process may progress to a Band (5) position with the approval of the Delegate.
