Salary Range: (Band 7) AUD $123,340 - $134,848 plus superannuation plus leave loading

Remuneration stated is for full-time positions

Work type: Temporary full-time for two years, with possibility for extension

Our Branch - City Planning and Economic Development 

We deliver strategic projects to help create and transform a more liveable and economically viable Brisbane. With a focus on future strategic planning, our people help shape Brisbane through suburban design projects, infrastructure and economic growth. 

The Role  

As Principal Economic Analyst, providing urban economic advice and demographic analysis to influence Council projects, you will lead a small team in the development and maintenance of statistical databases on Brisbane’s economy to support strong business investment and employment growth. 

The team will oversee economic forecasts, analysing and reporting on census and other data, providing economic insights for projects and policy development across Council and monitoring and reporting on industry trends, investment activity, exports, employment and population growth.  

We are seeking an experienced leader to engage with major internal and external stakeholders, including Brisbane’s Economic Development Agency, to achieve alignment between the parties to leverage greater economic benefit for the residents and businesses of Brisbane. 

To be successful you will have: 

  • Experience in government or the private sector in a professional field relevant to providing city-wide economic insights 
  • ability to identify, source, analyse and report data and information, providing insights that meets the needs of projects or initiatives 
  • experience providing leadership in addressing economic development challenges 
  • ability to lead the economic development program’s research and analysis agenda 
  • strong communication skills to deliver insights and recommendations in a tailored way to stakeholders at all levels 
  • experience in on-the-job training and mentoring of team members to achieve collaborative outcomes.
