Our Business

One of six divisions in Council, City Administration and Governance plays an important role providing support to the Lord Mayor and Councillors, the Chief Executive Officer and every Council program. In particular, we provide trusted advice to ensure Council’s business is delivered through the provision of effective governance.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated, resilient, and collaborative professional to support the City Administration and Governance division and the Divisional Manager. As the Executive Officer, you will be driving and championing exceptionally high standards of work for the division and working collaboratively to deliver value to our city. You will provide a high level of professional and executive support and advice to the Divisional Manager, General Managers, and other Services stakeholders. You will coordinate and manage timely and strategic advice on operational, policy and strategic issues that impact the division. In addition, you will research and report on potential business improvement initiatives that support the division to achieve its corporate outcomes.

Due to the nature of this role, exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and organisational skills will be essential to support the Divisional Manager, the Divisional Leadership Team, the Chair’s office and the employees of the Division.

To be successful you will have:

  • exceptional senior stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities 
  • demonstrated ability and significant experience in providing strategic and operational advice within a sensitive environment
  • a positive, analytical, and proactive approach to resolving problems and identifying improvement opportunities 
  • great organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet competing deadlines
  • demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and motivate people to play their part in meeting goals and objectives
  • leading the divisional management team’s strategic and operational forward planning agenda and following up on agreed actions and outcomes and
  • researching, writing and editing correspondence, presentations, reports and submissions on behalf of and in conjunction with the Divisional Manager.
