Our Unit

A unique opportunity exists to join the University of Newcastle as we embark on enhancing our strategic footing for the future. With the announcement of the Australian Universities Accord that will drive transformative reform across the Higher Education system, we are exploring avenues to further enhance our support for students and refine our operational practices to continue to better serve our region.

The University is standing up a program of work to identify where we can gain efficiencies and improve our effectiveness as an institution. Led by our Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Excellence), Professor Jennifer Milam, the Performance Excellence team, will support the coordinated implementation of institutional strategic priorities, and large change initiatives, preparing the University to be a sustainable institution well into the future.

The team will define a path of performance excellence derived from a holistic approach and a collaborative culture that will sustain our world-class learning experience for students and support a high-performing research-intensive university.

The Team is responsible for providing resources, insights, and specialised support in the areas of project and change management, communications, and data-informed strategic insights.

 

Be challenged and imagine with us

As Project Officer, Change Management, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating project activities for the Service Excellence Program, ensuring change initiatives are delivered efficiently and on time. You will build strong relationships with stakeholders across the University, providing essential support throughout change processes.

In this role you will:

  • Design and deliver stakeholder assessment, change impact assessment, and transition planning that support successful change outcomes.
  • Work with project teams to integrate change management activities into overall project plans.
  • Undertake research and analyse data to prepare and deliver accurate reports and presentations to inform decision making.

This fixed term position is until December 2025, is full time, and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).


How will you inspire us?

You will have:

  • Proven experience in project coordination and delivering to competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies such as PROSCI or similar.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to ensure successful integration of change management activities into broader project plans.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to build relationships and effectively liaise with senior stakeholders.

 

What we offer

The remuneration for this HEW 6 position is $90,316 to $99,655 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
