Join the University of Newcastle’s large finance team in 2025. As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll collaborate with assigned business units to guide financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting while delivering insights that drive strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Prepare budgets, forecasts, financial modelling and variance analyses to support decision making and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build effective relationships with diverse teams, providing financial advice and building financial literacy among leaders with non-financial backgrounds.
  • Business cases and Capital Evaluation: Prepare business cases and evaluations to support effective resource management.
  • Month-End and Reporting: Conduct month-end reviews, performance reporting, and provide in-depth analysis and insights.
  • System Support and Change Management: Support non-finance users during process improvements, and system rollouts, including Tech One.

This full-time role is based at our Callaghan Campus on Awabakal and Worimi land, with hybrid work opportunities available.

About you

You will bring:

  • A degree in accounting/business or equivalent.
  • Progress towards postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience providing strategic financial support in complex organisations.
  • A commitment to fostering a safe and respectful workplace.

Desirable:

  • CPA/CAANZ membership or progress towards it.
  • Technology One experience.
