Job no: 9RGYK

At Green by Nature (formerly Recreational Services), we're proud to be the go-to team for the Queenstown Lake's District Council, helping keep the region’s parks, playgrounds, and public spaces looking their best. Since 1992, we've grown into a leading name in the industry, and we now have 1,500 team members across New Zealand and Australia. We're passionate about making a positive change within the community and as we continue to grow, we'd love for you to join us on this journey!

What You’ll Do

As a Mower Operator, you'll take charge of mowing various parks, reserves, and cemeteries across Queenstown and surrounding areas. Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Regular mowing with a range of ride-on mowers to keep our public spaces in top shape
  • Performing weed eating, edging, and push mowing as needed to maintain a pristine finish in the finer areas
  • Carrying out basic routine maintenance on equipment to keep everything running smoothly
  • Ensuring fields meet the highest standards of presentation and align with client expectations

During the quieter mowing season, you'll assist other teams with various tasks beyond mowing, so flexibility and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed is essential.

Who We’re Looking For

Ideally, we’d love someone with experience using a range of small plant equipment and/or ride-on mowers, but that’s not a deal-breaker. If you have a strong work ethic and a passion for working outdoors, you'd be a great fit. You should also have:

  • A full, current driver’s license with manual capability (Class 2 is a plus)
  • A love for working outdoors and pride in a job well done
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of sports field maintenance
  • Basic computer skills for operating equipment and reporting
  • A strong commitment to following and upholding our health and safety standards
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and grow

What We Offer

As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with other professionals, gain further knowledge and experience, and develop your career in green space maintenance. We offer regular work hours, a performance-based salary that is reviewed annually, and a $300 wellness benefits. You'll also receive an annual tool allowance and work phone.

If you’re ready to take the next step and join a company that has been an industry leader for more than 30 years, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and join us in making remarkable green spaces!

Please note: In accordance with our Drug & Alcohol Policy, the successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug test.
