About the role:

You will be part of a dynamic and inclusive business enterprise that provides employment opportunities for people with a disability. Summerland Farm is a business of Aruma, and is located in Alstonville, Northern New South Wales.

Our Restaurant Cook is integral to the success of our Summerland Farm Restaurant, Café and supporting our employees with a disability. The role will focus on supporting back of house operations to ensure efficient service delivery in a busy customer-focused team environment. They effectively demonstrate experience and knowledge in commercial cookery to achieve business outcomes in a consistent; high quality standard of work to exceed customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a consistent and high standard of well planned, prepared, cooked and presented menu and function ordered items
  • Plan and prioritise customer orders that ensured all meals are delivered to the customers within a reasonable timeframe
  • Fulfil the required day to day operations of the kitchen
  • Adhere to food safety, quality and hygiene practices and standards
  • Facilitate positive team relationships cooperation and collaboration, which reflected our values and produced effective team results.

About you

  • Passion for quality food and presentation
  • Sound knowledge of food safety standards and requirements
  • Experience operating commercial equipment such as mixers, slicers, steamers, fryers and ovens
  • A high level of physical fitness to meet the manual handling requirements of the position
  • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to adapt to individual needs
  • Uses problem solving and technical skills to solve maintenance, customer matters
  • Sound organisational skills and ability to prioritise work of a small team 
  • Flexibility to work a range of shifts as per hospitality industry requirements, including weekends and functions
  • A practical understanding of WHS requirements. 
  • A commitment to Aruma’s Code of Conduct and Values  
  • A current Australian driver’s license 
  • Hold current or willingness to obtain relevant regulatory requirements (as per role and/or State).

Nice to have’s OR Desirable 

  • A minimum Cert III in a trade and/or Hospitality certificate; or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
