Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in complex end-to-end payroll processing to deliver specialist payroll system analysis for updates and improvements and support new system implementations affecting payroll processing.

You will have proven experience in managing payroll-related projects and collaborating with internal project teams, IT and external consultants on system enhancements and improvements. You will have strong analytical capabilities, payroll system testing experience and the ability to mentor and support the payroll team through system changes.

You will have proven experience in the delivery of sound payroll information and advice to employees as well as knowledge of Awards, workplace agreements and relevant legislation relating to terms and conditions of employment for payroll.

Using your excellent communication skills and experience working with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, you will be passionate about enhancing payroll processes and delivering exceptional service.

What can you expect to be doing?

Payroll Systems & Projects

  • Act as a subject matter expert on payroll related projects, including new system implementations.
  • Work with the project team to understand stakeholder requirements and business needs and liaise with IT and external software consultants to support system improvements.
  • Develop and execute test strategies to meet project goals.
  • Provide analysis, testing and reporting for payroll projects to ensure successful implementation of system upgrades. 

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Understand current payroll processes and assess the impact of new processes on future payroll processing.
  • Ensure contemporary knowledge of compliance is applied with relevant legislative, regulatory and policy requirements.

Team Support & Training

  • Educate, encourage and coach others in the payroll team.
  • Support the payroll team with process changes related to new systems and integrations, ensuring the smooth flow of payroll processing.
  • Contribute to the review, update, and testing of payroll, workforce management and award interpretation systems.

Payroll Services

  • Support the delivery of end-to-end payroll processing to deliver accurate and timely payments to employees.
  • Support end of month and end of financial year preparing and processing.
  • Deliver exceptional service to internal and external customers, providing effective and innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and diversified, friendly, positive and engaging culture.

What do you need to bring?

  • Experience with complex end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Experience with payroll systems (TechOne is a plus), including system upgrades.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Experience with payroll system testing and reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in project teams and manage payroll projects.
  • Strong communication skills at all organisational levels.
  • Experience providing payroll information and handling complex inquiries.
  • Knowledge of Awards, workplace agreements, and relevant employment legislation.
  • Strong customer service, attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Previous experience mentoring other team members desirable.
  • IT, Business Administration, or Accounting qualifications are preferred but not required.
