Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lifestyle Assistant - who will bring to the team a unique set of skills and strengths in developing programs which will enhance and support residents’ daily lifestyle choices. The other key ingredient is ‘you’ and your personality – welcoming and encouraging qualities as well as enthusiasm by the bucket load. While clinical care is important in an aged care environment, we see the true value of engaging with our residents in meaningful ways. We offer a broad range of activities and are seeking a resident focused individual with a vibrant approach to connect with our residents.
If you are someone who understands the needs of older people who considers both their challenges and potential within an aged care environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Optimise the independence, health, wellbeing and quality of life of our residents by assisting with the development of wellness programs
- Work as a team to provide social programs that reflect the interests of our residents, such as facilitating gardening groups, exercise classes and craft clubs
- Identify opportunities to enhance both social and cultural engagement
- Act as a listening ear for our residents, their families and advocates
- Connect with our residents on an individual level – it could be as simple as sharing your favourite films over a cup of tea!
- Maintain required documentation and reports crucial for a responsive service
- Contribute to the positive growth of the organisation’s safety culture through active participation in safety initiatives, such as proactive identification and reporting of incidents, hazards and near miss events.
What do you need to bring?
- Must possess Certificate III in Aged Care/Individual Support or be working towards a Certificate IV in Leisure & Health
- Proven experience in this role is highly desirable
- Ability to provide high quality care that meets the needs of customers and assist in the creation of lifestyle plans that reflect the individual
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents and their families
- A willingness to go above and beyond to actively engage our residents
- An understanding of basic Information Technology, including using an iPad for video calling and operating smart televisions for activity engagement
- A positive attitude and team focus
