Who are we looking for?

AnglicareSA is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Youth Support Worker to provide practical, flexible, and innovative assistance to young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, as well as their families. In this role, you will play a vital part in helping young individuals reconnect with their families, communities, education, and employment opportunities. You will also ensure they have access to essential resources and support, fostering their overall well-being and long-term stability. What can you expect to be doing?

  • Assess the needs of young people and their families, offering tailored case management support
  • Provide advocacy, crisis intervention, counselling, and referrals to relevant professional services
  • Help create pathways for young people to gain housing, education, and employment
  • Engage young people in community-based events and activities to promote growth, skills development, and self-worth 

What do you need to bring?

Qualifications / Special Conditions

  • Tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Community Services or Social Work, or equivalent relevant experience
  •  National Police Check, Working With Children Check
  • RHAN (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC)

Skills and Abilities

  • Problem solving ability and well-developed listening skills, with the ability to define the key issues and develop flexible, creative solutions to problems with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Proven understanding of employment, education, training and career pathways for young people.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and group work.
  • Understand social justice principals, housing and homelessness.
