ADP (a Lycopodium business) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Manager: Procurement and Logistics to join our dynamic, growing team. Based in Cape Town and reporting to the Manager: Commercial and Project Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of procurement and expediting activities of a specific project, or projects and studies as assigned by Commercial and Projects Services Manager.

The tasks you'll perform

  • Ensure that procurement activities are conducted to the highest quality, ethical and in line with the Company, Client and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide specialist advice in designated areas of expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with personnel across all business units.
  • Responsible for the integrity of information maintained within and the timely provision of all relevant procurement and expediting reporting.
  • Manage the Procurement Team to perform their designated functions with suitable speed, accuracy, efficiency and with a strict adherence to company policy and procedures.
  • Carry out commercial analysis and evaluation of quotations to enable the correct supplier choice to be made.
  • Interface with projects for schedule requirements and budget considerations, Engineering / Process Technology for technical requirements.
  • Implement and monitor the procurement schedule in accordance with the overall delivery schedule.
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor and report progress of all activities including but noy limited to enquiries, tender evaluation and award of purchase orders.
  • Establish key performance indicators and qualitative and quantitative metrics to capture, report and evaluate the benefit and performance of all procurement activity.
  • Ensure the Manager of Projects / Procurement Manager / Project Manager (as appropriate) is notified immediately if there is risk of committed delivery date not being met.
  • Lead high level negotiations with business partners and suppliers, establishing collaborative stakeholder and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Collate and compile project reporting requirements in accordance with company and Client standards to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
  • Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met. 
  • Contribute to Procurement team members in trainings professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
  • Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency within the Procurement team.
  • Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure a high level of communication is attained within the Procurement team.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Procurement team as required.

 

The expertise you'll bring

  • Qualifications in a Procurement discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years direct experience in the procurement, expediting, transport and logistics disciplines in the Engineering or Construction industries.
  • 15+ years’ experience in procurement management role(s) on substantial resources projects.
  • South African Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Cape Town based
  • Previous experience in management and leading large teams of people.
  • Extensive international work experience and/or experience working on complex contracts and strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and work at pace in a complex and challenging EPCM sector.
  • Exceptional international work experience and/or experience working on strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of managing contracts in the resources sector.

  • Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within your group.
  • Intuitive leader with the ability to initiate, lead and manage change in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrate ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.

  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of contract law and contract document requirements.
  • Ability to travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.

  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing, analytical and problem resolution skills.
