Head of Payroll

  • Australia/New Zealand leadership role

Role Overview:

Leading a team of 6, you will manage the systems and processes to ensure the effective, timely and compliant delivery of payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand.

 

Key deliverables of the role include:

  • Delivering timely and accurate payroll processing across Australia and New Zealand
  • Driving continuous improvement, including the amalgamation of payroll systems and implementation of HRIS Time and Attendance.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, including tax, superannuation, awards, and workers' compensation.
  • Reporting on payroll trends and auditing payroll processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy

 

The role is a member of the P&OD Leadership Team, offering the opportunity to contribute to the broader people agenda.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, takes accountability for outcomes, and handles confidentiality and privacy with expertise.

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • Proven Payroll Expertise: 10+ years of experience leading payroll functions, including system implementation and process improvement. Relevant qualifications or professional certification will be well regarded
  • Leadership Skills: A track record of building capability and leading effective teams.
  • Systems proficiency: Experience with payroll systems, general ledger, MS office and HRIS
  • Communication and Customer service ethic: the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, articulate clear messages and demonstrate a commitment to customer service
  • Planning and Organization: excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deliverables
