About the Team

Department of Respiratory Medicine, The Alfred.

Respiratory Medicine has a unique and comprehensive spectrum of expertise in Australia across clinical and basic allergy and advanced adult lung diseases, including severe asthma, emphysema, interstitial lung diseases, sleep apnoea, cystic fibrosis (CF; State Centre of Excellence) and lung transplantation. It comprises of four Clinical Services, supported by the Bronchoscopy Service and the Physiology Service (including the Lung Function Laboratory).

About the Role

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Admin Support Officer in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred, supporting our outpatient clinics. This Administrative role will focus on providing support to our outpatient clinics in the Department Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred. Duties include scheduling patient appointments, new referrals and clinic follow up, as well as supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. Demonstrated experience in the outpatient clinic setting is required, as is strong organisational, customer service and computer skills. Excellence in written and oral communication skills, and a high level of attention to detail is also required.

Duties

  • To undertake Administration / Receptionist duties within the Lung Transplant Service of Respiratory Medicine, including booking outpatient clinic appointments, billing and general administrative duties.
  • Provide administrative support to Respiratory Medicine Outpatient clinics.
  • To contribute to the operational efficiency of the Respiratory Medicine administrative support team under the supervision of the Admin Supervisor.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Sound administrative experience - Hospital or medical environment preferred. 
  • Personable, customer focused approach, and commitment to high quality service. 
  • Solutions-focused and highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel (Intermediate).
  • Knowledge and understanding of MBS billing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a hospital/medical practice or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
