Full time

Responsible for the execution of the Environmental field monitoring and sampling programs as required to fulfill regulatory requirements.

·      Based at our Touquoy Operations

·      4 days on, 3 days off roster; drive in / drive out (own transport required)

We seek an experienced professional to fill the role of Environmental Technician.

This fixed term and full-time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.

Our Environmental Technician will join a dedicated Environmental team. Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, your role will be responsible for the execution of the Environmental field monitoring and sampling programs as required to fulfill regulatory requirements. 

The Opportunity

·      Work collaboratively with other team members and actively ensure team and departmental compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards and policy.

·      Execute the existing environmental sampling program, including surface water, ground water and soil sampling.

·      Conduct site inspections and environmental monitoring.

·      Tabulate field and laboratory results

·      Update databases. Check all results are accurate utilizing quality assurance, quality control (QAQC) procedures.

·      Work effectively in difficult field conditions with exposure to weather elements and insects

Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

·      Completion or near completion of a degree or diploma in one of the following fields of study: Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology program

·      Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite products with an emphasis on Excel 

·      Ability to complete and pass a background check.

·      Current Drivers License
