We are currently seeking a Warehouse Officer to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo, Wewak or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor.   

The Warehouse Officer will assist with all aspects of the Warehouse, including inventory, receipting, storage, safe custody, issuance and subsequent distribution of the Company's assets. You will be responsible for contributing to the effective operation of the Warehouse function by assisting in resolving receipt, invoice and freight discrepancies to enable timely payment. In addition, you will be required to maintain orderly housekeeping practices as well as assisting in the accurate stock taking of stores inventories.

The opportunity 

Role accountabilities 

  • Responsible for own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
  • Reporting all matters relevant to safety, hazards and incident to your Manager or Manager-once-Removed as soon as practicable. 
  • Ensuring all tasks are carried out in an environmentally sustainable manner.
  • Loading and unloading containers, trucks and aircraft
  • Accurate picking and packing of requested stock holding
  • Maintaining delivery dockets, picking slips and receiving reports to a high level of accuracy
  • Tagging and labelling goods ready for delivery or pickup
  • Over the counter issues
  • Conduct appropriate housekeeping activities to ensure stock holdings remain in an appropriate condition, appropriately labelled and packaged according to best practice
  • Complete the physical counts associated to registered stocktakes and conducting any recounts required
  • Prepare goods for despatch by sea and air according to regulations
  • Ensuring availability to complete daily deliveries and meet aircraft / vessel for discharge action as necessary
  • Contributing to an effective team/crew.
  • Ability to work in a team environment but can also perform alone.
  • Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
  • Punctual attendance for all rostered shifts.

We would love to hear from you if you have​:

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
  • Driver’s and Forklift licences
  • Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • Reasonable understanding of ERP systems or shows the capability to rapidly acquire the skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in Pronto (Current ERP System)
