We are currently seeking a Crane Supervisor to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply).

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent.   

The Crane Supervisor is responsible to conduct quality assessments and scheduling repairs while maintaining parts inventory and developing preventative maintenance procedures. 

The opportunity

Technical accountabilities

  • Ensuring your own Health & Safety as well as that of the other members of the Simberi Maintenance Section.
  • Providing efficient and effective supervision to Simberi Operations to ensure that the processing plant can always operate optimally. This includes being available for callout or breakdowns assisting the night shift team.
  • Ensuring all required site reports (job and services report, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports) are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Carrying out scheduled inspections on all equipment
  • Repairing of faulty and damaged cranes
  •  Continuously improve the maintenance management system (preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and improvement maintenance) to reduce downtime and improve overall maintenance costs
  • Ensure all breakdowns/delays are escalated in a timely manner to the Superintendent or Manager
  • Contributing to the Maintenance Section to ensure that the Processing Department delivers to plan in respect of production, gold recovery and cost per tonne.
  • Ensuring all statutory requirements of the role are met.
  •  Coordinating planning & scheduling repairs.
  •  Assisting in periodic quality checks on cranes.
  • Contributing productively as a member of the Simberi Maintenance Team. 

Scheduling accountabilities

  •  Participate in all Process Plant Maintenance planning meetings (weekly and shutdown) and liaise with the maintenance staff and planners to schedule isolations and permits for plant maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all isolation plans, locks and isolation boards and permits are prepared no later than 1 day prior to every planned shutdown.
  • Work nightshift as required to meet business goals.

People accountabilities

  • Contributing to the building and development of an efficient Instrumentation Maintenance team
  • Ensuring all team members are accountable for compliance of implemented Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, operating procedures, and compliance to other external agency regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring that the team have the necessary competencies, awareness and training to effectively manage HSEC risk.

Essential
