We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join our team on a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Papua New Guinea, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Senior Project Coordinator.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations and community departments focusing on projects across site including but not limited to community, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades, improvements, and developments. Key role accountabilities are to ensure site projects are implemented successfully by scoping, planning, scheduling, and executing safely within budget and timeframe. In addition, organising shareholder meetings to bring together all stakeholders involved with a particular project. The role will be responsible for being systematic and organised in their approach to project life cycle.

Technical accountabilities
- Actively supervise work areas to ensure work is carried out safely, in accordance with the PNG Mine Safety.
- Adhere to SGCL Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and SGCL Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.
- Support Business Development and Contracts team as part of contractor management.
- Promote culture of open communication within all levels of department and that all employees comply with SGCL policies and procedures.
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the site projects objectives.
- Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment, and information.
- Liaise with stakeholders to identify and define requirements, scope, and objectives.
- Assign tasks to internal and external teams and assist with schedule management.
- Make sure that stakeholders’ needs are met as projects evolve.
- Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise in a timely manner.
- Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.
- Ensure standards and requirements are met through conducting quality assurance tests.
- Produce high quality technical construction engineering markups for associated projects.
- Ability to learn new technical skills in relation to project management.
- Execution of civil and maintenance projects.
- Have a firm understanding of construction activities and processes.
- Desirable but not mandatory formal qualification in project management (Diploma in project management).
- A firm understanding and experience in structural integrity remediation.
People accountabilities
- Working effectively with people from other backgrounds, cultures, and nationalities.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
- Proven experience of leading diverse technical teams comprising of boiler makers, electricians, fitters, scaffolders and sand blasters.

Essential
- Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values
- At least 5 years project management experience
- Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role
- Experience in project management, from conception to delivery
- An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules, and step-by-step action plans
- Solid organisational skills, including multitasking and time-management
- Strong teamwork skills
- Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office suite
- Hands-on experience with project management tools
Desirable
- A valid PNG Driver’s License
- Project management qualification
- Civil engineering qualification
- Mechanical engineering qualification
- Structural engineering qualification
