Future Systems Planning Engineer
New Plymouth, Tauranga, Wellington or Palmerston North

In this role, within our Power Systems Modelling team, you’ll leverage advanced network modelling and power systems simulation tools to work on cutting-edge projects, including Distributed System Operator (DSO) initiatives, integrating renewable energy sources, two-way power flows, and enhancing automation.
Within this role you will simulate current and future networks to improve modelling accuracy, develop advanced models to manage new advances such as solar, PVs, EVs. Working with our Data Insights team you will support testing scenario analysis expertise to conduct forward-looking demand forecasts and hosting capacity studies that can be shared with our Network Development teams to manage optimising utilisation of the network, including growth. Collaboration with teams and stakeholders is a key component of the role to enhance planning, operational tools and processes whilst ensuring models meet operational, customer and planning needs.
You’ll have strong analytical and problem solving skills with expertise in engineering, power systems or similar. You will be comfortable working with system simulations tools and have a knowledge of a safe and resilient network that enables the decarbonisation of Aotearoa. .
