Policy & Project Officer

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

 As the Policy & Project Officer responsible for supporting and contributing to the work of the Carers NSW Policy Team by undertaking research, consultation, policy analysis, systemic advocacy and project work in relation to issues affecting carers.

 This is a part time 3 day per week contract position until June 2026, based on funding.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• Qualifications in Social or Political Science, Social Work, Public Health or other relevant areas
• Demonstrated experience writing or contributing to submissions in response to government consultations, inquiries and reviews
• Demonstrated experience interpreting quantitative data (e.g. Australian Bureau of Statistics data) and incorporating this as evidence into policy submissions and reports
• Understanding of NSW and Australian Government policy development
• Demonstrated skills in preparing reports and other documents to a high standard
• Proven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government, non-government and community organisations
• Demonstrated ability to represent Carers NSW policy positions and to speak publicly
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work flexible hours in line with business requirements and travel within NSW and interstate if needed
• Current NSW driver’s licence

Salary and Benefits

The full time annual salary is approximately $98K + super, which will be pro rata for 3 days per week.
