About Archery Australia

Archery Australia (AA) is the governing body for all levels of archery throughout Australia and a recognised member of World Archery and the Australian Sports Commission.

Archery is a sport for all, for life. AA is committed to raising the profile of archery, increasing participation, and supporting the archery community to access, enjoy, contribute to and succeed across all levels of the sport.

As a not-for-profit member organisation, we co-ordinate and support our Recognised Governing Bodies in each state and territory; each are a crucial touchpoint in growing archery and supporting national programs locally. 

There are 130 clubs providing archery to approximately 8,000 active and registered archers in Australia.

About the Role

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading and managing the team at Archery Australia. This includes overseeing all operational aspects, driving performance objectives, engaging the archery community and ensuring financial sustainability. Working closely with the Board, the CEO plays a critical role in driving positive relationships with key stakeholder groups, both internal and external, collaborating constructively to achieve strategic and operational objectives while fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and excellence. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Guided by the 2022-2026 Archery Australia Strategic Plan and the current Operational Plan, implement activities to achieve objectives in the areas of participation and engagement, performance and pathways, governance and structure, capacity and capability.
  • Take overall responsibility for the daily leadership and management of Archery Australia, including people management, financial management, media/marketing/community engagement, technology and governance support.
  • Proactively develop positive and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders including the Regional Governing Bodies of Archery Australia, World Archery, the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Institution of Sport, Sport Integrity Australia, the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, Commonwealth Games Australia and relevant members of the National Sports Institute Network.

About You

We are looking for someone with the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Experience leading a team towards a vision, getting key stakeholders on board and embedding behaviours that help deliver the vision.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and competing agendas to prioritise, manage and deliver outcomes that achieve strategic and operational objectives.
  • Familiarity with community sport and/or high performance sport programs and the ability to oversee their development and implementation at a national level.
  • Financial management capabilities, including the ability to interpret and report on financial accounts and make sound financial decisions.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, leading the organisation with strong personal presence, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government agencies.
  • Confidence with change management, transformation, and project delivery.
