Yea & District Memorial Hospital (YDMH) is seeking applications for a

Rural Generalist Practitioner (GP)

Part Time (0.8FTE) Fixed term (12months commencing May 2025)

(Potential for ongoing employment)

Rural Generalist Practitioner

We are thrilled to offer a rewarding opportunity for a passionate Rural Generalist Practitioner (GP) to join our team in Yea. You will work across both private practice at the Yea Medical Centre and public practice at the Yea and District Memorial Hospital (YDMH), providing accessible healthcare services to the local community.

In this diverse role, you will:

  • See patients at the Yea Medical Centre in a private practice setting
  • Care for patients and residents at the attached YDMH public hospital facility
  • Provide guidance, support admissions, and deliver urgent care through the YDMH Urgent Care Centre

We are seeking a GP who:

  • Is certified as a Rural Generalist Practitioner
  • Holds FRACGP or FACRRM fellowship
  • Is passionate about continuity of care across both private and public practice

This is a 0.8 FTE part-time role split evenly between the two sites. You'll work collaboratively across both facilities to meet the needs of the Yea and Murrindindi communities. The role is initially a 12-month fixed term contract with no after hours work required.

At YDMH you'll work alongside a supportive clinical team to provide safe, patient-focused care. YDMH and Yea Medical Centre offers competitive pay, continuing education support, and an opportunity to develop your private practice.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Award 2020, to be competitive with other rural sector employers and development of workforce capability. YDMH uses the VPSC Medical Specialists Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026 as the basis for remuneration, rural incentives, continuing medical education (CME) support and governance as an incumbent employed directly by the Hospital.

If you want to make a difference providing healthcare services in a rural setting, we encourage you to apply. For more details or to discuss the role, contact YDMH CEO Elizabeth Sinclair on (03) 5736 0437, or Yea Medical Centre GP Dr. Teong Chuah (03) 5736 0444.

Applications close: 4 May 2025
