Nurse Unit Manager
Status: Full Time - 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly Accrued Day off (ADO)
Classification: NM11
About the role:
Our Memory Support Unit, Allawah provides dementia-specific care that is flexible and meets individual resident needs. Due to the many different types of cognitive impairments and the ever-changing nature of these conditions as they progress, we recognise that every individual, their history, current circumstances and relationships are unique, and we understand that a “one size fits all’ set of care practices is not always appropriate.
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is expected to have a rapport with every individual residing within the unit and is accountable for the provision of high-quality care for them. This is achieved through effective leadership in the management of staff and other resources to create a culture where resident quality of life is optimised through evidence based and person-centered care.

Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Division 1
- Tertiary qualifications in management or working towards same highly desired.
- Completion of Dementia specific training.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Minimum Five (5) Years’ Experience in Residential Aged Care as a RN/ANUM
- Proven experience at Associate Nurse Unit Manager or Nurse Unit Manager level
- Currency of clinical practice in relation to all aspects of clinical care including but not limited to, medication management, falls prevention, pressure injury prevention, wound care, nutrition and continence management, palliative and dementia care including BPSD
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment of change and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively
- Demonstrated leadership skills with high level effective communication skills
- Proven knowledge of information management systems
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary health service and Aged Care related issues
- A passion to improve resident care through coaching and development programs
- Understanding of, and ability to manage operational and business focused objectives
