The opportunity

We have one of the largest Contaminated Land teams in Western Australia and with a very healthy pipeline for 2025, we are looking to keep growing.

Our strong team culture, reputation, and highly regarded technical leaders allow us to tackle complex projects, ensuring rewarding and challenging work for our people, having worked on some transformational projects in Western Australia, including Westport, WACA, Barrow Island, and Crown Casino.

We are seeking highly experienced contaminated land and groundwater professionals to help us shape the future of environmental consultancy. We’re specifically interested in sector expertise in Mining, Transport Infrastructure, and Oil & Gas sectors, and have multiple opportunities at the following levels:

  • Associate Consultants (~8+ years)
  • Senior Associate Consultants (~10+ years)
  • Principal Consultants (15+ years)
  • Technical Executives/Directors (~20+ years) 

We offer a hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to work from our Perth office and remotely for ~2-3 days per week, as desired. Regional project travel may be required with additional days off and time in lieu.

As a leader, you will be responsible for bringing our growth aspirations to life through a sector lead approach to market engagement. You will drive technical excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction within your market sector, while nurturing a culture of development within the team, acting as a senior mentor to staff. 

Your work will include the full life cycle of contaminated site assessments across a range of projects including:

  • Mine sites across their Life Cycle including Closure and Decommissioning
  • Legacy industrial sites
  • Decommissioning programs on large upstream oil and gas sites
  • Transport infrastructure projects including rail, road and ports
  • Property transaction due diligence assessments
  • Downstream oil and gas sites
  • Defence projects
  • Renewable Energy startup or decommissioning

 

What you’ll do

  • Challenge the status quo, provide innovative thought leadership to our clients and team members
  • Scope and lead projects with a range of complexity and scale
  • Conduct technical quality reviews and provide sign-off
  • Act as a mentor and coach to help develop the technical capabilities within the team
  • Drive market share growth for our Contaminated Land and Water business within the Mining, Transport & Infrastructure or Oil & Gas sector
  • Personally develop and manage client relationships, and oversee pursuit prioritisation
  • Oversight of marketing, communications, and client engagement activities that align with growth initiatives, sector strategies and strategic pursuits
  • Lead and foster a continually improving safety culture
  • Drive collaboration across all Earth and Environmental disciplines with WSP in WA, Australia and across our global Contaminated Land and Water professional network

 

About you

You will have deep experience in providing technical leadership and strategic advice to clients while leading multiple high profile contaminated sites projects, with significant experience overseeing field programs, with a focus on the Mining, Transport & Infrastructure or Oil & Gas sector.

In addition, you bring the following experience and attributes:

  • Exceptional understanding of the structure and application of the WA contaminated land regulatory framework
  • Experience in leading subcontractors on multiple sites in both assessment and remediation activities
  • Competent in identifying and managing risk on substantial projects
  • Experience in managing, tracking and meeting client funding and related targets
  • Proven ability in building the client-centricity capability of others and transferring expertise within an organisation
  • Experience in developing and implementing major/strategic client relationship plans
  • Compelling leadership style with the ability to inspire, motivate, encourage and influence others through a socially impactful style
