Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking to make a tangible impact in dynamic project environments? WSP, a global leader in engineering professional services, is seeking a Senior Associate, Health & Safety (Projects) to join our Brisbane team on a 12-month max-term contract.
This is a project-specific, site-based role located on a major regional project site, approximately 2.5 hours from Brisbane, with a 2-and-1 DIDO roster. You’ll have a unique opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing proactive WHS support across rail and port operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Enhance Safety Culture: Take charge of safety risk management across impactful projects. Provide expert WHS support while spending significant time on-site and engaging directly with clients.
- Safety Innovation: Lead Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Safety in Design (SID) workshops, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance. Manage the Project Risk Register to meet and exceed client and regulatory expectations.
- Strategic Support: Offer high-level HSE strategies to enhance project execution and guide teams toward safe outcomes.
- Incident Management: Address and resolve hazards and incidents effectively. Provide expert guidance to site workers to ensure a consistently safe workplace.
- Quality Assurance: Deliver exceptional technical QA for WHS projects while working closely with Safety & Compliance teams to uphold superior standards.
- Client Engagement and Growth: Build strong relationships with clients, uncover new business opportunities, and lead proposals to drive WSP’s growth.
About You:
- Experience: 10-15 years of experience in high-risk project safety, particularly in rail and port environments. Experience in live rail corridors is highly desirable.
- Qualifications: Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (essential). A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a related field is advantageous.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in WHS regulations, workplace risk assessments, technical documentation, and legislative compliance.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead HAZID/SID workshops and maintain comprehensive Project Risk Registers.
- Incident Management: Expertise in managing safety incidents and fostering safe work environments.
- Client-Focused: Demonstrated success in building client relationships and pursuing business opportunities.
