The opportunity
Our national team comprises licensed asbestos assessors, certified occupational hygienists, senior toxicologists, and laboratory professionals.
As a Consultant or a Senior Consultant in the Hazardous Materials and Occupational Hygiene team, your primary focus is to protect workers' health, and provide guidance to clients so they can anticipate, recognise, evaluate, and control risks associated with hazardous materials and physical hazards in the workplace.
You will contribute to enhancing environmental health and safety (EHS) standards within workplaces, safeguarding your clients' reputation, and aligning with their sustainability objectives.
We've recently delivered asbestos, hazardous material, occupational hygiene consultancy services for clients such as:
- Department of Finance
- Westfield Shopping Centres
- Westpac Banking Corporation
- AMPOL
- SafeWork
- CSIRO
- Chevron
- Rio Tinto
- BHP
When not required on site, you will have the option to work from our Adelaide office or work from home 1-2 days per week, for a healthy work-life balance.

What you’ll do
- Collect samples of suspected hazardous building materials
- Conduct Asbestos and HazMat audits in commercial buildings, industrial facilities and residential properties
- Develop asbestos monitoring and remediation strategies, issuing clearances
- Undertake occupational hygiene monitoring
- Provide technical guidance on sites during asbestos and lead removal projects
- Conduct indoor air quality, mould and moisture assessments
- Analyse data and prepare technical reports with support from senior staff, including technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists
At the Senior Consultant level, you will have the opportunity to mentor juniors and assist the team with strategy and business development. You will also get to work on more complex, larger scale projects in mining and various industrial settings.
About you
You are likely to have trade experience or tertiary qualifications in either building and construction, environmental management/science, health and safety, or occupational hygiene.
You will ideally bring the following:
- Have experience in the construction industry;
- Demonstrate initiative, and ready and willing to embrace new challenges;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Be willing to work remotely, with occasional weekends and overtime as required;
- Good report writing and project management skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Australian Driver's License;
- Some experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards in the workplace or conducting asbestos and hazmat surveys;
- Asbestos Assessors License would be highly regarded.
