Mining

Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you’ll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.

You’ll be part of a large mining & resources team working with major clients. Working alongside a dedicated and passionate project controls team, your role here will be to lead a dedicated project controls team providing support to the Project Controls Manager & Project Managers to monitor and report all schedule, plan and cost/budget related matters. 


What you’ll do:

  • Develop tender schedules, scopes of work and project control budgets
  • Provide cash flow estimates and manning histograms for proposal submissions
  • Participate in tenders process documentations.
  • Develop project schedules and estimates from first principles
  • Gather information from discipline leads or third parties.
  • Develop budgets in line with project estimates and WBS.
  • Prepare baseline schedules and develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Resource load the schedule and obtain client approval.
  • Prepare or use existing templates for various reports (monthly, weekly, management, ad hoc).
  • Day-to-day management of cost forecasting, budget control, reporting, change management, and resources.
  • Support accurate and timely reporting of cost, schedule, and budget performance.
  • Ensure budget forecasts, progress monitoring, cost reporting, and corrective actions meet project requirements.
  • Manage and monitor operational and project expenditures.
  • Provide visibility to delivery teams and senior management.
  • Monitor schedule impacts on project performance and provide recovery plans.
  • Track and report Earned Value, Cost Performance Index (CPI), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI).
  • Review and update cost to complete, cost at completion, remaining budget, and work in progress.
  • Assist with progress claims, invoices, purchase orders (POs), project change notices (PCNs), and variations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.
  • Lead project control team.
  • Support and mentor team members.
  • Manage Team Project Controls function and deliverables.
  • Manage personnel workload and resource requirements.
  • Oversee the project portfolio, ensuring continuous performance monitoring and proactive risk identification.
  • Ensure alignment with WSP guidelines and procedures.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for process improvement.


About You:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, or a related field.
  • MUST have extensive experience in project control, with a proven track record in managing complex projects and or Project controls teams. With focus on design, study and execution of mining projects (preferred).
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in project management software, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership abilities.
  • Software’s: Expert knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project. Familiar with Power Bi, cost control management tools.
