Your Opportunity

Join our Brisbane-based Advisory team as an Infrastructure Economist within our Infrastructure Investment Decisions group. You’ll work on strategic projects across various economic and social infrastructure sectors nationwide.

This role is based in Brisbane for preference, however suitably skilled applicants from Sydney and Melbourne are encouraged to apply as this role could be performed out of WSP's offices in these locations. Flexible/hybrid work arrangements are available.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Preparing economic appraisals and models, including cost-benefit analyses
  • Undertaking economic impact assessments
  • Undertaking demand forecasting (e.g. freight forecasting)
  • Developing business cases for major infrastructure and place-based projects
  • Applying decision-making frameworks for option assessment
  • Managing and interpreting complex data sets (e.g., transport modelling data)
  • Producing investment assurance documentation
  • Supporting business development, including proposal preparation

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience: 3-9 years in a top-tier consulting, strategy, or advisory firm; experience in government project development or investment assurance is highly valued
  • Technical Expertise: Skilled in economic and financial modelling, data interpretation, and business case development, particularly in the transport sector
  • Education: Degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Mathematics or a related discipline; post-graduate qualifications are a plus
  • Skills:
  • Strong economic and financial modelling, report writing, presentation and client engagement capabilities.
  • Python, R and / or QGIS skills are highly desirable
  • Personal Attributes: A team player with a collaborative mindset, business development acumen, and a drive to achieve positive client outcomes
