Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional ready to make a significant impact on project environments? WSP, a global leader in engineering professional services, is looking for a Senior Associate, Health & Safety (Projects) to join our vibrant team in Brisbane on a 12-month max-term contract. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead and collaborate with project teams to provide specialist WHS support, ensuring our projects meet the highest safety standards and enhancing the knowledge and competency of others with your expertise.

What You’ll Do:

  • Transform Safety Culture: Spearhead safety risk management across high-impact projects and dynamic site environments, with a focus on rail and port operations. Provide proactive WHS support to our teams, spending most of your time directly on-site or engaging with clients.
  • Elevate Safety and Design: Revolutionise our approach to safety by leading innovative hazard identification (HAZID) and Safety in Design (SID) workshops. Shape and sustain the Project Risk Register to exceed client and regulatory expectations.
  • Strategies’ Project Success: Guide and enhance project execution with top-tier HSE strategies.
  • Lead Incident Resolution: Address and resolve hazards and incidents effectively. Provide expert advice to site workers to foster a consistently safe work environment.
  • Champion Quality Assurance: Deliver top-notch technical QA and consulting support for WHS projects. Collaborate with Safety & Compliance experts to set and uphold exceptional standards.
  • Drive Growth and Innovation: Discover and seize new business opportunities, build and nurture client relationships, and lead impactful proposals that propel our business forward.

About You:

  • You are a seasoned Health & Safety professional with 10-15 years of experience overseeing safety in high-risk projects and environments, particularly within the ports and rail sectors. Experience working in live rail corridors is highly regarded.
  • You possess a deep understanding of WHS regulations and have a proven track record in engaging with contractors and overseeing complex project safety.
  • You hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, with additional qualifications such as a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in a related field being highly desirable.
  • You’re skilled in conducting workplace risk assessments, preparing high-quality technical documentation, and interpreting relevant legislation and standards.
  • You have hands-on experience in leading safety workshops (HAZID, SID), and developing and maintaining Project Risk Registers.
  • You excel in incident management and have a solid background in quality assurance for WHS projects.
  • You’re adept at building strong client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities to drive growth.
  • You’re committed to continuous professional development and possess strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
