About the Role:

As a global leader in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for Mission Critical Facilities, we are seeking an experienced Associate or Associate Director with over 10 years of expertise to join our team. This role is design-focused, with a primary emphasis on electrical or mechanical design for Mission Critical Facilities, including Data Centres.
In this senior position, you’ll take on a key leadership role in the design of complex, multi-disciplinary projects, collaborating closely with our internal experts and clients to provide tailored solutions. You’ll shape innovative, future-ready designs while meeting operational efficiency, sustainability, and speed-to-market demands. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading electrical or mechanical design on large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects, with a focus on Mission Critical Facilities (Data Centres).
- Developing design solutions that meet operational efficiency, sustainability, and speed-to-market demands in the dynamic data centre sector.
- Leading design coordination with other building services disciplines, ensuring the integration of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, and environmentally sustainable design systems.
- Engaging with clients to understand their specific requirements and delivering tailored design solutions that align with their mission and objectives.
- Building and nurturing long-term relationships with hyperscale, colocation, technology, enterprise, and government clients.
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, providing guidance and fostering their development in the design space.
- Representing WSP in the local and regional markets, promoting our design expertise in the Mission Critical sector.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience:
- A Tertiary Qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in designing electrical or mechanical systems for complex projects, with a strong focus on Mission Critical facilities such as Data Centres.
- Proven expertise in designing building services systems (e.g., air conditioning, heating, ventilation, electrical systems) for large-scale, high-complexity projects across sectors.
- Experience in coordinating design across multiple disciplines, including Hydraulics, Fire Protection, and Environmentally Sustainable Design.
- Deep knowledge of Australian building codes and standards.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with the relevant state authority in the building/construction industry.
- A strong focus on design excellence, with a passion for driving innovative solutions that meet technical and client requirements.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong client relationships and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance (advantageous but not essential).
