What can you gain from completing a traineeship through Work & Training?

  • You would be employed by Work & Training – the largest employer of Apprentices and Trainees in Tasmania, and hosted for the duration of your traineeship.
  • You would receive professional guidance from your immediate supervisors, as well as mentoring and support from a Work & Training field officer.
  • The theory side of your qualification would be conducted one-on-one in the workplace, with expert tuition, by registered trainers from TasTAFE.

On completion of your traineeship you would receive a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dental Assisting – HLT35021. 

What would this involve?

  • Work Monday to Friday in the Dental Practice.
  • Train to assist dentists and hygienists’ chair-side.
  • Gain an understanding of the instruments & dental equipment used.
  • Train in sterilisation techniques for equipment.
  • Learn all about infection control.
  • Oral pathology and physiology is covered.
  • There will be the opportunity to assist with oral surgery.
  • Obtain a good understanding of the administrative aspect of Dental Assisting.
  • Trainers come to the workplace to teach and assess.

 Wage:

  • National Training Wage applies.
