About the team

Our Group Accounting team is responsible for the consolidation and analysis of the Wesfarmers Group accounts, management and improvement of finance systems, accounting and taxation matters for the Corporate Office, as well as providing a source of expertise for the Wesfarmers Group.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Manager, Technical and Statutory Reporting, this role will:

  • Prepare the Wesfarmers Group accounts, consisting of the half year and full year financial statements
  • Provide reporting to the Wesfarmers Audit and Risk committee on key accounting matters, including the Group annual impairment process
  • Develop and maintain the Group accounting policies in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
  • Provide technical accounting support and training to our Corporate Office departments and finance teams within our businesses
  • Consolidate and lodge the Wesfarmers Group Payment Times Report
  • Support the Manager, Technical and Statutory Reporting in coordinating the external audit process for the Group
  • Contribute to accounting projects including the adoption of the new accounting standards, integration and transition of acquired businesses; providing technical accounting support in the evaluation of potential acquisitions and divestments including due diligence activities; and documenting accounting impacts of debt and equity issuances

What you’ll need

  • At least 4 years experience working in an accounting role within a corporate environment or large accounting firm
  • Strong ability to practically apply current accounting standards, issues and trends  
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting processes and systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively influence stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Have a degree in Commerce or a related discipline and have completed CA/CPA accreditation

Nice to have’s

  • Experience in a corporate environment or large accounting firm, ideally, within a technical accounting role; or with external audit processes, due diligence, acquisition accounting or business integration
