About the role
We have a permanent opportunity within our engineering team for a Principal Engineer - Minor Design to undertake planning, definition, design and commissioning coordination services for infrastructure design. You’ll also provide a centre of expertise with technical support of mechanical assets and hydraulic systems, standards and advice to our operations. This role will be based in our Leederville office, reporting to our Senior Principal Engineer – Minor Design.
- Undertake and coordinate complex investigations, conceptual planning and financial analysis for assessment, development and remedial works of allocated infrastructure assets
- Plan and manage the development and delivery of a range of simple to complex designs and reports for the solution of engineering problems using in-house or external resources
- Develop and maintain engineering design criteria, design standards and manuals for a specific infrastructure design function
- Examine tenders and makes recommendations.
- Prepare briefs for the engagement of consultants, evaluate consultant proposals and report appropriate conclusions and recommendations
- Provide advice to and liaise with internal customers, external suppliers, service agencies, consultants, industry regulators and agencies in relation to infrastructure design
- Represent Water Corporation in consultations and negotiations with Government agencies, local authorities, consultants, developers and community groups
Key skills and experience
You’ll hold a degree level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, with substantial experience with infrastructure planning, definition and/or detailed design of infrastructure assets. You’ll also have knowledge of water related infrastructure assets and systems, along with preparation and review of technical reports and tender specifications. Your demonstrated leadership, ability to collaborate and influence senior external and internal stakeholders will ensure success in this role.
