About the role:
We have an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity available within our Information Management team. As a Principal Information Governance, you will be responsible for defining and supporting strategies, projects and activities that uplift corporate information management (IM) practices.
This includes the development of frameworks and standards that support the core functions of information management, covering data governance, data risk, privacy and security, data quality, metadata management, data interoperability, information lifecycle management and electronic content management.
The role provides the corporation a resident expert in information management capabilities, acting as a primary contact for strategic advice.

About you:
There are a few things we would like to see in your CV;
You will be degree level qualification in Information Management or Information Technology or equivalent with substantial operational experience in data management and information governance in a Utility/Resources industry. You will have demonstrated understanding of information compliance including legislative obligations, and information management risk with the understanding of meta- and master data management practices, data lineage and data inventories. You will also possess great understanding of the information management lifecycle practices, electronic content management systems, business analysis, and be proficient in business stakeholder and change management.
Some of the things you’ll be doing include but are not limited to:
- Lead the strategic direction, development and maintenance of the Information Governance Framework, and the uplift in information management policies, standards, principles, methods, and processes to address evolving changes (regulatory, legislative, corporate and industry) in information risk, information management and data protection practices.
- Define and support strategies, projects, and activities that ensure the corporation’s electronic content management capabilities provide a compliant, collaborative, and efficient digital workplace environment.
- Lead the development of critical and sensitive data inventories, associated metadata, and the structured allocation into information domains.
- Lead the development of data standards that encourage consistency, quality, and interoperability.
- Lead reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal obligations.
- Advice and support key data roles within the Accountability and Empowerment Framework and Information Management Framework, including executive and non-executive data owners, data stewards, and local user experts of eDRMS systems.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand, prioritise, and improve their data, and liaise with all relevant parties to resolve issues and minimise risks to the corporation.
- Liaise with external professional bodies such as DAMA, RIMPA, and recognised industry experts to assess and incorporate best practices into the corporation.
