About the role:
This role is a 9-month fixed-term contract, starting in April and ending in December. The position is part-time (0.5 - 0.83FTE) with the possibility of becoming full-time as our student numbers continue to grow rapidly.
We are looking for a teacher who can teach a variety of subjects in the science domain, providing a caring, safe, and stimulating environment, with high academic expectations, excellent classroom management skills, and with an understanding of supporting English language learners.
In particular, we are looking for a teacher able to teach at least two of the following subjects:
- Year 13/Grade 12 Chemistry
- Year 13/Grade 12 Biology
- Year 13/Grade 12 Physics
Some of your key responsibilities outside of teaching will include:
- Providing academic and pastoral oversight of students
- Meeting with mentee students after reports are distributed and recording outcomes and actions in our Student Management System
- Engaging with pastoral and academic systems
- Elevating any issues with academic or pastoral issues through the Learner Success Team (who will in turn communicate with parents and agents)
- Completing administrative tasks as required in relation to these responsibilities
Note: All resources needed for the delivery of these courses exist, and each course has an existing team of teachers to offer support.
Remuneration will be based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
About you:
You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and that you are able to make a positive contribution to the work of the faculty. As a highly organised individual who likes to plan and work efficiently, managing your schedule and meeting deadlines will be second nature to your passion for teaching. This will be demonstrated through the consistent positive student feedback.
You’ll also have an interest teaching in a variety of contexts, and be capable of teaching with video technology as some portions of some courses are taught in a hybrid mode with students online-offshore.
You must possess the following:
- Former teaching experience in teaching science subjects
- Hold relevant degree suitable to teach Science
- Bachelors Degree in Education or Graduate Diploma in Teaching is preferred
- Experience in international students’ environment is preferred
