We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual who is eager to advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander higher education and provide exceptional service to our students. Your responsibilities will require you to:

  • Deliver exceptional service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to enhance access, participation, retention, and success.
  • Provide high-quality advice and support to students regarding their programs and courses, and collaborate with faculties, schools, and other stakeholders to promote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student engagement and advancement.
  • Support the development, management, and evaluation of programs aimed at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student advancement.
  • Lead and coordinate the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Advancement Officer roles, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Manage and resolve complex student issues and complaints escalated by Student Advancement Officers, ensuring timely and effective solutions.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus.

This is an identified position, and applicants must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised under Section 14(D) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act, 1977 NSW.

  1. Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a knowledge and understanding of the contributions, successes and challenges relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  2. Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines with a demonstrated ability to be proactive and apply initiative.
  3. Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  4. Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to lead/inspire a team of professional staff to deliver exceptional performance/outcomes.
