Are you passionate about creating engaging and effective eLearning programs? Do you have expertise in instructional design and a strong understanding of compliance requirements? We’re looking for an Instructional Designer – Compliance to join our Learning and Development team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality regulatory and compliance training to support organisational and legal requirements.

About the Role

As the Instructional Designer – Compliance, you will be responsible for designing interactive and engaging compliance eLearning courses, ensuring content meets regulatory requirements while enhancing learner engagement. Your expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and eLearning technologies will be crucial in creating high-quality training experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging eLearning courses on compliance topics such as Code of Conduct, Cyber Security Awareness, and Health & Safety Induction.
  • Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and adult learning principles to create interactive and accessible training programs.
  • Utilise multimedia tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Premiere Pro) to enhance course engagement through animations, gamification, and video content.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including compliance officers, legal teams, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Maintain and update course content to reflect changes in legislation, policies, and organisational requirements.
  • Integrate and manage courses within the Learning Management System (LMS) while ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Measure effectiveness through assessments, learner feedback, and evaluation tools, continuously improving training materials.
  • Support the Learning & Development team in instructional design for non-compliance programs and assist with face-to-face training delivery as needed.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level located at Callaghan Campus.

  1. Demonstrated ability in instructional design and development of compliance programs for various modes of delivery. Experience in Learning and Development, HR or compliance training.  
  2. Demonstrated ability in the application of eLearning instructional design principals, storyboarding, and the use of eLearning software (e.g. Articulate, Rise 360, Storyline, Adobe Captivate).
  3. Demonstrated ability in uploading, organising and maintaining learning content within the LMS and ensuring courses are accessible, logically structured and aligned with learner needs. Knowledge of eLearning content standards, (e.g. SCORM, xAPI,) and file formats (e.g. video, audio, document types). 
  4. Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts, L&D team members and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain high quality engaging learning experiences. 
  5. Ability to apply project management methodologies, tools and templates for managing large complex compliance initiatives.
  6. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software programs and apply modern learning techniques (e.g., gamification) to compliance related content.
  7. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.
  8. Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  1. Prior experience and demonstrated skills in instructional design and development of compliance eLearning programs or instructional multimedia design.
  2. Prior experience in Higher Education sector or large organisation would be advantageous.
  3. Prior experience in visual design, or multimedia design, or graphic design.
