As we continue to grow and evolve, we are seeking a DevOps Engineering Specialist to join our team and play a vital role in providing ongoing support and development to platforms and applications in our digital experience portfolio.

As a DevOps Engineering Specialist at The University of Newcastle, you will be responsible for overseeing the continuous development and operational activities of a range of technology platforms and applications including Audio-visual technologies, Zoom, and integrations related to a variety of teaching and learning technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex issues. Additionally, you will play a key role in advancing the technical evolution of the digital experience portfolio, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of modern technologies, agile delivery frameworks, and DevOps principles and toolsets supporting our diverse technology platforms and applications.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  1. Collaborating with diverse teams to diagnose and resolve complex issues on various University platforms. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the seamless operation of our technology ecosystem.
  2. Being the recognized authority on your area of technology/platform specialisation. The area of specialisation will vary based on experience, preference, and University need. Example areas are, Audio-visual Technologies, SaaS platforms (eg Zoom), cloud infrastructure and network.
  3. Playing a leading support role in the technical evolution of the digital experience portfolio. Embracing modern technologies and platforms, agile delivery frameworks, and DevOps principles and toolsets to drive innovation and efficiency.

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level and will be based at Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land)

Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer Digital Technology Solutions delivers cutting-edge, innovative and cost- effective digital solutions and services to the University’s staff and students to enable the delivery of excellence in education and research & innovation; and to support engagement with communities and partners. Digital Technology Solutions is repositioning to be a technology integrator, broker, trusted advisor and innovator, enabling the University to deliver the New Futures Strategic Plan.
