As the Senior Manager, Student Events and Engagement, you will oversee the design and delivery of high-profile and high-resource student events, contributing to a vibrant student experience across all campuses.

Your work will support student retention and success, bringing the University's values to life through impactful events that celebrate academic progression and enrich student life.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the University to design and manage large-scale events, including graduations and orientation, ensuring they run smoothly and meet strategic objectives.
  • Lead a team of event professionals, providing guidance, development, and support.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS and risk mitigation, implementing best practices for safe and successful event delivery.
  • Activate campus life with events that promote outstanding student experiences throughout the year.

This continuing position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal land) however there is semi-frequent travel to other campuses required.

 

How will you inspire us?

You will have:

  • Proven experience managing high-profile events with significant resources and risk in a Higher Education environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a team.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior leaders, to ensure event success.
  • A strategic understanding of the student journey and the role of events in promoting student retention.

 

What we offer

The remuneration for this position is from $130,798 to $140,139 + 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  1. Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  2. Exceptional organisational skills and demonstrated large-scale event management experience, with an action-oriented mindset, strong desire to achieve results, highly developed problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  3. Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to lead/inspire a team of professional staff to deliver exceptional performance/outcomes.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in School/Division or University wide initiatives.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace and event space, including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.
  6. Demonstrated experience in event management within the Higher Education sector, with a proven ability to enhance the student experience through the delivery of high-quality events.
