Job Description

The Technical Writer, Electronics is to support the growing electronic systems integration (ESI) team. The contractor will have 3 main duties:

  1. Producing Test Agendas with support from our subject matter experts.
  2. Support ESI team in producing quality standardized documentation for POLAR (aligning with corporate templates, quality check sheets, reviews, etc.)
  3. Equipment preservation requirements (major lessoned learned on OFSV & JSS)


Duties/Accountabilities

  • Produce detailed test agendas and test reports.
  • Write test agendas and test reports to verify requirements.
  • Edit test agendas to incorporate comments from others.
  • Unify the look and “feel” of documents authored by larger team.
  • Support Engineering in the management of requirements to verified/validated.
  • Support production in the rehearsal and execution of test agendas.
  • Produce and edit department-process documents.
  • Produce and edit engineering reports.


Education and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline (DiplT, B.Sc, B.Eng, BTECH). 
  • Minimum 5 years post-secondary experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Writing logical and valid test procedures, establishing that requirements are met.
  • Producing technical documentation such as instructions, guidance notes, design reports, and process documents.
  • System engineering and System Design experience.
  • Validation and verification.
  • Ship Electronic systems experience is considered an asset. 


Skills, Knowledge and Competencies

  • Committed to a high standard of safety and able to follow all safety laws and all the employer's safety policies and rules.
  • Knowledgeable in System Engineering
  • Developing and using Excel Macros
  • Good oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft office 2010 software suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).


Pay rate: $44-$48 per hour, depending on experience
