Your opportunity:

PLEASE NOTE: This role requires working from 7:00PM-12:00AM on a fixed rolling roster, including alternate weekends. The role is a 6-month fixed-term contract and will be fully remote. Flexibility is essential, as working hours may change based on business needs.

As our valued Scam Monitoring Officer, you will play a vital role in identifying any vulnerability or fraud risk to TPG Telecom's network, product or service offerings. You will make recommendations to protect TPG Telecom from potential loss of revenue, negative user experience and brand or reputational damage.

You'll make impact by:

Monitoring and prevention of scam calls and scam SMS:

  • Identifying scam messaging campaigns.
  • Blocking scam messaging campaigns.
  • Adding phishing URLs to the blacklist.
  • Adding phishing phone numbers to the blacklist.
  • Marking genuine messaging campaigns as legitimate.
  • Blocking numbers that are sending scam messages.
  • Ensuring that all scam campaigns and relevant information are logged.
  • Identifying the sub brand for any TPG sims that have been sending scam campaigns and ensuring those services are suspended.
  • Compile, check and send daily scam messaging reports to other telco carriers and the ACMA, to ensure that we comply with our obligations to the scam code.
  • Checking and responding to other carriers that report TPG originated scam messaging campaigns to us. (This involves ensuring that we block any scam campaigns that may have not been picked up by our usual monitoring processes).
  • Sending other daily reports to our business partners.

Scam Call Monitoring:

  • Using existing reporting to monitor for high volume scam call activity.
  • Investigating call patterns and determine if fraudulent/scam.
  • Blocking calls/add to blacklist.
  • Adhering to Scam code, report those calls of offending carriers.
  • Monitoring of excessive usage alerts for TPG Telecom customers:
  • Identifying with TPG Telecom Sub-Brand an alert has generated for.
  • Reviewing the alert and taking appropriate action to prevent potential usage fraud.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Being familiar and adhering to legislation, regulations & policies, such as the fair work policies and Scam code.
  • Maintaining reports to monitor high-risk areas of the TPG Telecom business

What you’ll bring:

  • Excellent understanding of, or an ability to quickly gain a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Collaborative / consultative work style (diplomatic)
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to develop a solid working relationship with the business whilst maintaining independence.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, especially Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and an independent thinker.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a commercial and pragmatic approach
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
